Safer and Non-Aggressive Physical Intervention Training
Physical Interventions: Safer escorting, holding and rescue skills
SSD Training Services Limited are accredited to deliver the physical interventions programme which is part of the Security Industry Authorities consultation for competency renewal for Door Supervisors which could be implemented as a mandatory part of the Door Supervisors training syllabus.
Physical intervention skills may be required in some workplaces to safely manage challenging or aggressive behaviour.
Depending on the risks faced by staff in the workplace this can involve anything from avoidance and disengagement skills through to safer escorting, holding and rescue skills.
SSD Training Services has a uniquely safe physical skills programme that is simple and effective yet low in risk for the staff using them and the persons to whom they are applied.
The non-aggressive skills help to calm a situation, as they do not use pain to seek compliance. They are taught in a way that enables staff to identify the least aversive options to achieve the objective.
These skills are based on simple yet powerful principles staff can apply these skills with confidence in a range of environments in order to protect their colleagues, service users/customers and themselves.
Disengagement: Training reviews can identify how staff can reduce the risks of assault through non physical actions and avoid assault through their body language and approach. They then learn how to disengage from the most common types of assault they may face in their role. This can extend to aiding another person with the use of non restrictive guiding skills.
Holding: Where the job role may involve physically escorting or holding an individual, non-aggressive holds are taught that help to protect staff and prevents pain or discomfort being applied to the individual. Such techniques may be required in a variety of frontline roles.
