The Health and Safety Executive defines workplace violence as:
"Any incident, in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work".
Understanding conflict
Conflict Management is a problem solving approach to dealing with difficult human issues.
Before developing a response to violence you will need a clear understanding of the extent and nature of the problem.
A specific review of policies and procedures will achieve this by assessing the risks within each job role and area of work and an examination of both local and cultural issues.
The review will highlight areas of need and make recommendations for both management and front line staff. This will allow a comprehensive and informed strategy to be developed and policy prepared.
Personal and Corporate Safety Training
The City and Guilds (1884) Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management is designed to provide the basic understanding to deal effectively with workplace violence.
The aim is to develop the learner's knowledge and skills so they can assess their work environment and reduce the risk of being subjected to violence, deal effectively with conflict and aggression and learn from an incident of work related violence.
Local Authority/Lone Worker Safety Training
We can assist with a full review and developement of Policy, Risk Assessments and Incident report forms. Our aim is to help create uniformity within the council as most departments seem to have their own specific safe systems of work, but are these in line with organisational policy?
Our aim is to help develop everyones knowledge and skills so they can assess their work environment, identify risk, inform other departments and colleagues to reduce the likelihood of anyone being subjected to violence, deal effectively with conflict and aggression and ensure that all departments learn from EVERY incident of work related violence.
